Worcester – Joan T. Filipe, 63, of Worcester, died unexpectedly at her residence Friday, Oct. 23, 2015. She leaves her loving parents, Eugene and Theresa (MacLellan) Filipe of Hudson.

Joan was born in Marlborough and raised in Hudson. She attended local schools and was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School. She was a member of Saint Michael’s in Hudson.

Joan enjoyed the simple things in life and truly cherished spending time with family. She always looked forward to the special gatherings, especially during the holidays. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews and loved them all. She will truly be missed.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her siblings, Mary Mathews of Hudson, Lorraine Plummer and her husband Dan of North Carolina, Cathy Ricci and her husband Paul of Texas, Bernadette Keefe and her husband Al of Maine, Ellen MacGilvray and her husband Richard of Hudson, Virginia Benson and her husband David of North Carolina, Daniel Filipe and his wife Karen of Texas, and Ruth Matthews and her husband Glen of Leominster, along with her many loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Linda Filipe, who died in 1984, and Elizabeth Filipe, who died in 2013.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center, 112 Main St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
