Marlborough – The 26th Evening of Giving, held in support of Roland’s House, the Marlboro-Hudson homeless shelter, will be held Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, 181 Boston Post Road West (Rt. 20) in Marlborough.
The generous support of local and area restaurants, hotels and businesses are preparing their menus with the assistance of Food Chair Ivette Mesmar. Chef Leon Roberge will once again host the shrimp and raw bar and provide elaborate ice sculpture in the courtyard. There will be music for listening and dancing pleasure in the lounge and in the main ballroom.
Anyone wishing to serve on the committee is welcome and may see Bob Kays, chair, at the Prospector Bar and Grill on Lincoln Street or call Paulina Lynch at 508-485-3741 or Madeline Dupuis at 508-485-5705. Tickets are $30 each and $300 for a table of 10. Reservations may be made by calling Lynch or Dupuis.
The annual raffle is being held with a first prize of $5,000, one $1,000 prize, and three $500 prizes. Only 300 tickets will be sold and are available, $50 each, from committee members or at the event. Winners will be chosen during the Evening of Giving festivities.
After last year’s event, a check for $32,500 was presented to the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, the supervisors of the shelter. Roland’s House provides tools and connections that are needed by many men who are struggling to rebuild their self-esteem and self-sufficiency. The Evening of Giving has been an essential part of this achievement and has raised more than $750,000 through the past 25 years to support this important community resource.
