Northborough – Smooth notes from the jazz quartet mingled with conversation among library patrons and librarians Oct. 22 at the Northborough Free Library fall open house. Throughout the evening, residents could enjoy the library after hours with a reception catered by Pepper’s Fine Catering, a performance by the Algonquin Regional High School Jazz Quartet, a demonstration of the library’s new website, opportunities to meet with librarians, and a tour. Children’s, teen, and adult services librarians were on hand to answer questions as was the new director, Christopher Lindquist, who also led the tour.
The Northborough Free Library was founded in 1868 and has been at its current location at 34 Main St. since 1894 when Northborough resident Cyrus Gale Jr. donated the land and funds for its construction. A major renovation and expansion, completed in 2009, has further enabled the library to serve as a viable community center and valuable resource for the public.
The open house was sponsored by the Friends of the Northborough Free Library, the nonprofit organization that assists the library financially and through volunteer activities.
