Northborough – The eighth-seeded Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys soccer team defeated the ninth-seeded Fitchburg High School Red Raiders by a score of 10-0 in the first round of the MIAA Central Division 1 Playoffs. The game was played on November 4.
Algonquin scored three goals within the first 9 minutes and never looked back. Patrick Sullivan, Alex Sena-Leo and Max Michaud scored two goals each, while Zach Osetek, Cole Maslanka, Jack Gingrich and Jonathan Hatem each scored one. Patrick Neusch got the shutout in goal.
Algonquin advances to play the number one seed Tantasqua Regional High School Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. Fitchburg concludes their season with a 9-7-1 record.
