Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Police Department released this statement this evening:
On November 12th at 1:07 PM Shrewsbury Police responded to 103 Harrington Ave in Shrewsbury for a report of a pedestrian that had been hit by a motor vehicle at this location. Shrewsbury Police, Shrewsbury Fire Department and Worcester EMS responded to the scene. Upon arrival first responders assisted a seriously injured elderly pedestrian who had been hit by a motor vehicle. The suspect vehicle had fled the scene. The elderly pedestrian is identified as Jeanne Cote, 68, 117 Old Mill Rd., Shrewsbury, Ma. She was transported from the scene to U-Mass Hospital, Lake Ave, Worcester where she is being treated.
The investigation determined that the pedestrian was walking North on the sidewalk of Harrington Ave. The suspect vehicle was traveling South on Harrington Ave when the vehicle jumped the curb and struck the pedestrian and then fled the scene. Investigators received reports of motor vehicle operating erratically before the accident and then the woman was hit. Police have determined the suspect vehicle was silver in color and received damage to its passenger side. Shrewsbury Police are asking for any information from witnesses who may have seen the accident or silver motor vehicle. Investigating the accident is the Shrewsbury Police Accident Reconstruction Unit with assistance from the Worcester County DA’s office of Joseph D.
