Westborough – The Rotary Club of Westborough took home top honors at the annual Foundation Forum for the club with the most cumulative donations to The Rotary Foundation within District 7910.
The award was accepted by Westborough Club President Jim O’Connor and Foundation Chair Evelyn Ware.
The Rotary Foundation, formed in the name of Rotary founder Paul Harris, is the charitable arm of Rotary. Rotarians worldwide contribute to the Foundation through the Paul Harris Society.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. Rotary clubs can apply for matching grants from the foundation to invest in projects and provide scholarships. The granting process can triple the amount of club contributions. Recent Westborough Foundation grants supported projects in Nicaragua (El Tololar sterile medical equipment); Guatemala (Rainwater Recovery Project); and Honduras (Roatan Clinic, UMass Surgical Mission).
