Northborough Annual Tree Lighting Dec. 5

49

Northborough – The Northborough Annual Tree Lighting will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. at the corner of Blake Street and Route 20. This year’s celebration will feature the Assabet Valley Chambersingers, holiday bells for the children to ring, a Children’s Chorus singing holiday carols, hot cocoa provided by Dunkin’ Donuts, cookies provided by Wegmans, and pizza provided by Northborough House of Pizza.

The annual tree lighting began in 1968 in honor of the memory of Neil Ellsworth, an Army private first class, who was killed in Vietnam in 1967 at the age of 19.

This event will be the grand finale to the Northboro Holiday Trolley, a ride up and down Main Street from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., sponsored by local merchants and small businesses. A raffle will be held at the tree lighting for those patrons who collected raffle tickets from retailers and restaurants along the route. For more information on the trolley, visit http://northboroholidaytrolley.com/

Event sponsors are Jacob Stein Cosmetic and Family Dentistry and the Northborough Cultural Council. The chorus is supported, in part, by a grant from the Northborough Cultural Council.
