Westborough – Westborough High School (WHS) freshman Abigail McLucas, 14, has a heart for honoring and helping people. On Sept. 11, as part of her involvement with Project 351 – a statewide youth service organization – she organized a remembrance ceremony to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. In keeping with her desire to serve community, McLucas has organized a food drive for the Westborough Food Pantry.
“We would love to engage as much of the community as possible,” said McLucas. “We are really looking to do as much as we can to help support the inspiring work that the Westborough Food Pantry does for our community on a regular basis.”
There is a broad-based group of more than 30 students from the Westborough schools who are involved in managing, collecting, and delivering the donations alongside McLucas.
Among the many needs of the Westborough Food Pantry are Progresso soups, macaroni and cheese, cake mix, canned ravioli and canned pasta. For a current list of needs visit the food pantry website at http://www.westboroughfoodpantry.org
Donations boxes are located in either the lobby or cafeteria of every public school in Westborough. The food drive started on Monday, Nov. 30 and will continue until Friday, Dec. 11.
