Obit Dr. Thomas M. Cummings,Westborough – Dr. Thomas M. Cummings, 60, of Westborough, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015, surrounded by loving family, in Westborough after a long and valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sue MacMaster, and his adored children, Anna and Evan. Tom is survived by his sisters, Susan Cummings and Nancy Smith (Warren), as well as wonderful nieces and nephews, William and Simon Hiscock, Andrea, Jillian, Megan and Matthew Smith. Also mourning his loss: mother- in-law Marion MacMaster, brother-in-law Luke MacMaster (Sandra), and nephew Adam. Very special friends whose longstanding support with epicurean dinners, wine tastings and Sunday football are dearly held: Mary Lou Morris, Steve Payne, Tom Treadwell, Meredith Martin, and Jim Parker, as well as friends who traveled distances to check up and check in: Peter and Mary Feero, Brett Applebaum, and Dorothy Gutierrez.

Tom was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1955, and was predeceased by his parents, George and Vida Cummings. He received his MD and completed his radiology residency at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

He had worked at the Health Sciences Center, St John’s NL; UMass Medical Center, Worcester; and MetroWest Medical Center, Framingham as an attending radiologist.

As a young man, Tom had an intense love and aptitude for music and enjoyed playing piano and acoustic guitar. His love of acoustic guitar never abated and was a great joy and a comfort to him and his family throughout his life and illness.

Visitation will take place Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2-5 p.m., at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough. A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Research, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714; to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center, which may be made online, payable to Lahey Clinic Foundation “in support of Sophia Gordon Cancer Center”; or to the Salvation Army.
