Obit Joshua DuckworthNorth Grafton – Joshua P. Duckworth, 39, of North Grafton, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at Marlborough Hospital.

Born and raised in Marlborough, he was the son of Nancy I. (Jaworek) Duckworth of Marlborough and the late Robert M. Duckworth. He was the life partner of Laura Van Voorhis of North Grafton, with whom he had shared the last 11 years.

Joshua graduated from Assabet Valley Regional High School and attended Mass Bay Community College. He had been employed as a dispatcher for the City of Marlborough Police Department for 16 years.

Joshua had many interests. He enjoyed hiking with Laura and their dogs, Grizzly and Molly, kayaking, his family and play time with his niece Ryleigh, boxing at the Paladin Gym, music, and the Bruins.

Besides his mother, Nancy, and Laura, he is survived by his brother, Robert Duckworth and his wife Lisa of Richmond Hill, Ga.; his sisters, Joanne Burke and her husband Hugh of Auburn and Jodi Sullivan and her husband Jef of Oakham; his uncle, Charlie Jaworek of Marlborough; three nephews and three nieces; and many cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2-6 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
