Marlborough – Weather was more comfortable compared to recent years when Marlborough residents and guests gathered Dec. 4 at Union Common for the city’s annual Home for the Holidays celebration.
Festivities included free balloons, popcorn and hot chocolate distributed by the girls’ varsity basketball team of Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School along with Coach Dennis Zilembo. The Marlborough High School (MHS) Mixed Chorus sang seasonal songs under the direction of Shannon McNulty. Children also got the chance to pet several live barn animals.
Santa Claus arrived on the city’s Ladder 1 fire truck, then distributed candy canes and posed with kids for photos. The park became brighter and more colorful when Mayor Arthur Vigeant lit the holiday tree.
Musical entertainment continued with performances by the MHS Jazz and String ensembles inside the nearby First Church in Marlborough.
