Shrewbury – Central One Federal Credit Union donated $2,000 to the Shrewsbury Education Foundation today as part of its continued support of education and the community of Shrewsbury. This donation corresponds with #GivingTuesday, a movement to create a national day of giving on Dec. 1, at the beginning of the holiday season.

“Credit unions are built on the idea of people helping people—of community values,” said Dave L’Ecuyer, president and CEO of Central One. “What better way to live up to those values than by providing the best opportunities for our children.”

The donation will provide grant funds to enrich student learning at every grade level, by stimulating, strengthening and supporting educator-driven innovation. Past grants projects include “Kidfit,” a whole-body wellness program at Sherwood Middle School and “Young Scientists at Play,” a program for preschool students to be introduced to STEM principles. For descriptions of these and other SEF grants, visit: http://www.sefgrants.org/grants/.

Shrewsbury Education Foundation is an all-volunteer organization that provides grants to educators and staff at Shrewsbury Public Schools. These grants provide educators with the resources to launch innovative, hands-on programming directly into the classroom.

Central One Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution that provides members with excellent, personalized service and has branches in Shrewsbury, Westborough, Northborough and Auburn; as well as school-branches in both Shrewsbury and Westborough high schools. More information about Central One is available on the credit union’s website at www.centralfcu.com.
