Marlborough – On Dec. 9, Marlborough Hospital marked its 15th annual Tree of Light ceremony in the Leahy Conference Room. Guests were greeted at the door by members of Boy Scout Troop 1775. Steve Roach, president and CEO, welcomed everyone and introduced the musical entertainment. Carols were sung by the 1Lt. Charles W. Whitcomb Middle School Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Chorus directed by Helen Morley.

Chosen to light the tree was Abe Guzman, a student of Marlborough’s post-graduate program for young adults who are entitled to receive special education services. While participating in the program that focuses on vocational and life skills, he has volunteered at the hospital cafeteria and mailroom for over 300 hours. His integral contribution to the hospital was expressed by Ellen Carlucci, vice president of development.

“Abe has been a part of our community since 2013,” she noted. “His smile and laugh light up the room.”

The donated tree decorations is a way to honor or memorialize friends and loved ones, or display appreciation for hospital staff. Ornaments can be purchased through the end of the year by calling Carlucci at 508-486-5807.
