Northborough – Boxes and bags packed with the fixings for a holiday meal filled the Northborough Town Hall gym as Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc., (NHHA) distributed the donations to 80 families and 60 seniors in need Nov. 21 as part of their annual Holiday Outreach Program.
NHHA Vice President Marcia Roman said it is always a successful community effort as donations come from collections throughout the town including churches, families, community organizations and businesses.
In addition, hundreds of donated gently used coats, boots and snow pants were available for families so children have the gear they need to stay warm and have fun this winter. Coordinators of the Winter Gear Program Heather Capes and Pamela Hodge noted that any overflow of donations are shared with other local sites who serve families in need.
Genzyme Senior Director of Quality Gary Dodakian and a group of employees from the
Northborough Operations facility volunteered their time to pack the food baskets this year. He said they reached out to NHHA as they were investigating ways to give back to the community for Thanksgiving.
