Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks girls’ basketball team defeated the Fitchburg High School Red Raiders by a score of 55-33 in a game played Dec. 22.
Fitchburg led briefly early in the second half, but Algonquin rallied and was ahead 28-20 at the end of the first half. Algonquin sophomore Amanda Carroll was the top scorer with 14 points and freshman Rachel McMenemy scored 12. Elyssa Nichols and Caroline Leonard each contributed 9 points.
Algonquin improves to 1-1 on the season while Fitchburg falls to 0-2.
