Obit Robert MickelsonWorcester – Robert E. Mickelson died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2105 in UMass Medical Center. He was 65.

He was born May 9, 1950 in Worcester, a son of the late Elmer E. and Agnes H. (Perry) Mickelson.

Bob Mickelson lived an ordinary life and was a much loved member of the Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester. He worked in its adult day programs all his life and the friendships that came provided him with a circle of love and support.

His needs were few. He loved the Boston Red Sox and taking in a game at Fenway Park, travelling especially through New England and the east coast. Social by nature he also loved to sing and treasured the people with whom he lived with in Worcester. They became another family.

In addition to his much loved Seven Hills family and housemates, Bob leaves his brother, Donald Mickelson of Los Angeles, and cousins, Barbara and Daniel DeWolfe and their family of Shrewsbury and John Perry in Colorado Springs, Colo. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Haney.

Family and friends will honor and remember Robert’s life by gathering for calling hours Saturday, Dec. 26, from 9-10 a.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, followed by his funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park of Paxton.
