Region – The National Weather Service has issued this advisory for tonight:

Temperatures were rapidly falling to below freezing in eastern Massachusetts as of 2:30 p.m.

The freezing line stretched from near Lynn southwestward to Arlington, Wellesley and Hopkinton. These colder temperatures will be moving rapidly southward across the Boston metropolitan area by 4 p.m. This will cause very slippery conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks.

In addition areas of freezing drizzle will continue into tonight which will make conditions increasingly treacherous. Advisories for freezing drizzle are in effect through midnight for all of eastern Massachusetts except along the south coast.

If you are driving slow down and use extreme caution this afternoon and tonight.
