Grafton – On Nov. 17, after a scheduled public hearing had been concluded, the Grafton Board of Selectmen voted to write a “letter of non-opposition” regarding a proposed marijuana dispensary to be run by Milford Medicinals at 206 Worcester St., (Route 122), the location of a former Cumberland Farms. The company currently operates a registered marijuana dispensary in Milford. Grafton would be its second site.
However, this was not welcome news for some Grafton residents. Over the past week, a group was formed on Facebook, Concerned Grafton Citizens. The group alleges that the hearing had not been publicized and that zoning use issues had been “hidden”. The group also states that the town has removed the requirement for a Planning Board hearing, impact studies, use permits, further citizen input, and has committed possible conflicts of interest. They are further aggrieved that the site of the dispensary would allegedly be at the entrance to a residential neighborhood and near a school bus stop.
The group has also distributed bright yellow fliers around town addressing these concerns and urging residents to attend a “Town Meeting” on Tuesday, Jan. 5 to address this issue. However, the meeting that night is not a Town Meeting but rather a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Selectmen. All agendas for town boards and committees can be found on the town’s website, http://www.grafton-ma.gov/board-selectmen.
