Obit Lloyd P NolanGrafton – Lloyd P. Nolan, 75, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 following a lengthy illness.

He leaves the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Kathleen “Kathy” (Shaughnessy) Nolan; his daughters, Donna Gagne and her husband Gene, Debbie Gardell, and Kim Nolan and her husband Rob Burke; his grandchildren, Johanna and Derek Gardell, Tanya, Matthew and Alaysha Burke, Tessa Gagne, and Shana Carlson; his great-grandchildren, Kori, Rileigh, Jayden, Jianna, Leean, Arianah and Lyla; his sister, Kate Atchue of California; and his brother, William Nolan and his wife Jean, along with several nieces and nephews. His sisters Gertrude Setterlund, Ellen Murphy, Lena Rivers and Rose Riel predeceased him.

Lloyd was born Oct. 18, 1940 in Worcester, son of the late Gertrude (Dumas) and William Nolan. He lived in Grafton with his wife Kathy for more than 50 years.

Lloyd always had a love for baseball, playing in his early days and following his beloved Boston Red Sox throughout his life.

For 25 years, Lloyd worked at Hode’s Market in North Grafton and then for Frito Lay Corporation for another 25 years. Away from work, when his daughters were young, you might have found Lloyd behind the plate as an umpire at their softball games and throughout his life tending to his vast vegetable garden or with a fishing rod in his hand at Hovey Pond in North Grafton.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in North Grafton. He will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.
