Marlborough-Two $600 grants awarded to the local Council on Aging (COA) by the Massachusetts Council on Aging (MCOA) were accepted by the City Council at its Jan. 11 meeting. The grants will be used for a Keep Moving Walking Club to be held at the newly renovated Ward Park behind the new Senior Center and the second will support a “Live Your Life Well Day” event to be held at the center, stated COA Director Patricia Pope in a letter to Mayor Arthur Vigeant.
“We are thrilled to have received both grants which will help continue to enhance the quality of life for our senior population here in Marlborough,” Pope said in her communication.
In other business, Councilors unanimously approved the appointment of Judith Kane to a position on the COA Board. In his communication suggesting her for the position, the mayor stated: “Mrs. Kane is a retired elementary school teacher who would being a valuable perspective, great experience, and many skills to the Council on Aging.”
Kane has also served as a volunteer and participant in activities at the Senior Center.
