Shrewsbury hosts Mid-Wach track meet

    Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury High School hosted six schools for a Midland-Wachusett League Indoor Track meet Jan. 14. This was a dual meet where schools were paired against each other for scoring purposes.

    The Westborough girls defeated Marlborough 57-34 as did the boys by a score of 50-41. Westborough’s Melissa Sullivan won the girls 55 meter hurdle (8.9 seconds) as did the girls 4×440 relay team (4:35.6). First place finishes for Marlborough include Manny Teo in the boys’ shot put (45 ft. 3 in.), Sam Dias- boys’ 55 meter dash (6.8 seconds), Brian Oram- boys’ 1 mile run (4:38.4), Yossef Naim- boys’ 600 meter run (1:33.2), Casey Sibole- girls’ 600 meter run (1:44.7) and the girls’ 4×220 relay (2:02.5)

    The Algonquin boys defeated Shrewsbury 51-40 while the Shrewsbury girls topped Algonquin 67-24. Shrewsbury’s Jackson Southard won the boys 2 mile run (10:20.5) as did the boys 4×440 yard relay team (3:52.7). Notable first places finishes for Algonquin include Max Michaud winning the boys 100 meter run (2:44.8), Kelly Morin- girls’ shot put (28 ft 5 in.), and the boys’ 4×220 yard relay team (1:46.1)

    The final pairing had the Littleton boys and girls teams both defeating their respective Bromfield teams.
