Marlborough – Margaret T. “Meme” (Dumas) Roche, 80, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Donald J. Roche, who died in 2009. They were married for 54 years.
She was born in Hudson, the daughter of the late Herman Sr. and Celia (Dufault) Dumas, and moved to Marlborough in 1955 after living most of her young life in Hudson.
Mrs. Roche was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough. She enjoyed spending her summers at Ogunquit Beach and Moussam Lake in Maine. The greatest joy in her life though was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by two sons, David Roche and his wife Michelle of Sturbridge and Edward Roche of Marlborough; one daughter, Donna Kelley and her husband Tom of Marlborough; two brothers, Gilbert Dumas of Hudson and Herman Dumas Jr. of West Yarmouth; one sister, Elaine Cashman of Hudson; five grandchildren, Joseph, Julie, Stephanie, Matthew, and Christine; eight great-grandchildren, Bentley, Beckett, Henry, Owen, Olivia, Colin, Jack, and Katharine; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Philip Dumas.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 5-8 p.m.
