Westborough – Megan Ku, a sophomore at Westborough High School, is the 2015/16 winner of the Westborough Lions Club and the Massachusetts Lions, District 33A, Zone II youth speech contests.

Each year, the Mass. Lions sponsor a statewide speech contest for high school students on a compelling topic. This year’s topic was: “In What Ways has Social Media Changed Society?” The speeches are to be memorized and must be from five to eight minutes in length. The contestants are judged on delivery, effectiveness and text. Contests begin at the local Lions Club level and move on to zone, region, district, and finally state level.

Megan won her titles after having competed for the Westborough title Dec. 1. She then went on to represent the local club in the District 33A Zone II contest Dec. 16 in Bolton. There, she competed against the winners of the Berlin and Bolton Lions clubs. She secured the Zone II title that evening and went on to compete at the Region I level in Milford Jan. 7, where she was a runner up.
