Region – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks and the Shrewsbury High School Colonials skated to a 2-2 tie in a boys’ ice hockey matchup played Jan. 23 at Northstar Ice Sports.
Shrewsbury struck first with a first-period goal by Matt Ward. Algonquin responded with a second-period goal by Alex DiPadua to tie the score. In the third period, an unassisted, shorthanded shot by Adam Twitchell found its way past Algonquin goalie Mike Tascione to give Shrewsbury the lead with 11:21 left to play in the game. With just 1:27 remaining, Algonquin’s Justin O’Connell evened up the score with the game’s final.
Shrewsbury’s season record now stands at 11-1-1 while Algonquin’s is 7-2-3.
