Westborough – The visiting Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys’ basketball team defeated the Westborough High School Rangers in an action packed game by a score of 68-64 on January 25.

The Westborough and Algonquin boys battled thru the entire game, a classic rivalry matchup. Algonquin held a slim 37-35 lead at halftime, and extended their lead to 56-47 by the end of the third quarter. Westborough fought back and was within one point with 37 seconds left in the game, but Algonquin managed to hang on for the win.

The game’s top scorer was Westborough freshman Jake Hughes with 15 points. Senior Cavan Crowley added 12 for the Rangers and junior James Coffey contributed 10 points.

Jason Truax and Jake Clark each scored 12 for the Tomahawks and Kyle Henderson added another 10.

Algonquin improves to 6-6 on the season while Westborough falls to 4-9.
