Marlborough – An amended special permit to allow for an additional condominium for developers of Corbin Plaza at 110 Pleasant St. was discussed at a public hearing held by the City Council at the Jan. 25 meeting. The action, increasing the number of condominiums from 17 to 18, eliminated the original request for office space on the ground floor, proposed by attorney Arthur Bergeron, representing owners Stas Burdan and Alex Yarov of Stoughton.

“The owners do not need the office space and prefer to convert it to a handicapped-accessible unit,” said Bergeron as he showed photos of the space during his presentation. As there was no opposition, the Urban Affairs Committee will meet to review the request and make a recommendation to be presented to the full council at the meeting Monday, Feb. 8.

“It will be a quick process,” said Councilor Joseph Delano, chair of the Urban Affairs Committee.

The Corbin Plaza project was completed in early 2015 on the site which was formerly the B. A. Corbin Shoe Factory, manufacturers of Spaulding golf shoes. The property had been demolished for parking with the remainder to be used for offices under the name Corbin Plaza.
