Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen reviewed during its Jan. 26 meeting a citizen’s request to place a stop sign at the intersection of Deergrass Road and Thestland Drive. The board concluded that present traffic does not warrant such an action as the police department reported that traffic usually adheres to the posted speed limit and that neighbors questioned stated that they had seen no problems existing with traffic. Selectman Maurice DePalo had also gone to that intersection and stated that he had observed no speeding vehicles or dangerous situations. As such the board declined to act on the request.

A hearing for Sam’s Mobile Service Center, 285 Boston Turnpike, was again postponed as the applicant still did not have completed the required paperwork to increase the approved number of vehicles on the lot to 25.

The board also voted unanimously to approve the following items: a One Day Wine and Malt Beverage License application for Gregory Morelli, St. Mary’s Parish for the Annual St. Mary’s Fish Fry, Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, from 4-9 p.m.; act on reappointment of David C. Donahue, of 20 Stone Meadow Farm Drive, to the Shrewsbury Development Corporation, for a five year term, to expire Jan. 31, 2021; reappointment of Sarah McManus, of 398 Grafton St., William C. Sigalis, of 74 South Quinsigamond Ave., Linda Cavallero, of 415 Boston Turnpike, and Elizabeth Leitko, of 12 Rice St. to the Shrewsbury Cultural Council, for three year terms to expire Feb. 10, 2019; and reappointment of Carolyn Marcotte, of 5 Dell Ann Circle, Milford, as treasurer and collector for a three year term to expire March 1, 2019.

The board members also reaffirmed its previous position on the Public Records Law Legislation and added that their hope was that the state legislature would not exempt itself from that law as has been the case in the past.

Town Manager Daniel Morgado then remarked that considering the lateness of the hour, the board might be better served to postpone acting on an update of its Operational Policies. The board agreed and adjourned for the night.
