OBIT Charlotte MayNorthborough – Charlotte T. (Woods) May, 92, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 in Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital in Framingham after a brief illness. Her husband, James May, died in 1996.

She leaves behind five children, Henry May of Converse, Texas, John May of Ashland, David May and his wife Kim of Shrewsbury, Peter May and his wife Eileen of Wakefield, and Catherine May of Northborough, with whom she lived; her sister, Helen Woods of Melrose; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of Leslie and Mary (Fallon) Woods. During the time her father was a member of the U.S. Diplomatic Corps, Charlotte was born in Strasbourg, France. She was a resident of Northborough for 60 years.

She worked for Raytheon Corp. primarily in Northborough from 1981 until her retirement in 1996.

Charlotte was an extremely independent and inspirational person. She saw to the needs of others before her own, and she loved her friends as family. She left no crossword puzzle unchallenged and was known for beating the best contestants at Jeopardy.

She was a teacher with the Literacy Volunteers of America, and was a familiar face at the Northborough Senior Center and public library. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Church.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 21, from 2-4 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Her funeral Mass will take place Monday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke’s Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northborough Senior Center, 119 Bearfoot Rd., Northborough, MA 01532.
