Northborough – The Friends of the Northborough Library, Inc., announced that the Library Service Award is to be awarded again to a graduating high school senior in recognition of their outstanding service to the Northborough Free Library. The award amount is determined annually, but will be a minimum of $500. The criteria for the award will be an evaluation of their volunteer work for the Northborough Library or the Friends of the Library for as long as they have been a volunteer.

Possible volunteer opportunities include: Friends of the Library book sales and other events; the Children’s Summer reading program; and drop-in volunteering (when available). To volunteer for the upcoming March Book Sale, contact Volunteer Spot at http://vols.pt/KBksGB to sign up. To volunteer for the Children’s Summer reading program, stop in at the Children’s Room in late May. Drop-in volunteering is available when the sign is up at the Circulation Desk. No new shelving assistants are needed at this time, but current shelvers and volunteers are eligible for the award.

Any library volunteer who is a graduating senior would be eligible for the award, and the application forms are available at the guidance offices of Algonquin Regional High School, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, St. John’s High School, AMSA and Worcester Academy. The application deadline is Friday, April 1.
