To the Editor:
My name is Shelby Marshall. I’m running as a write-in candidate for the Westborough Library Board of Trustees.
I’ve lived in Westborough for 18 years. The gift of becoming a mom, a career change and a very supportive spouse created an unforeseen opportunity to begin to discover this great town. Over the past two years I have come to learn so much about Westborough – dedicated town employees, fantastic schools and educators, a healthy and growing economy and tireless resident dedication to government and local organizations. I am running for a position on the Library Board for several reasons. I’ve always wanted to participate in local government. I have the time to make this commitment. I want to support the progressive vision of the Library Director and Trustees to retain this strong and vibrant community resource.
I was born in Portsmouth, NH and raised in York Harbor, ME. I graduated from Brown University. I fell in love and that love brought me to Westborough. It’s been a whirlwind ever since! In addition to being a mom, I am a local business owner (Right at Home), a Rotarian, Chair of the 2016 Westborough Spring Festival, a member of the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Treasurer of Worcester Area Geriatric Social Workers (WAGS). When I’m not dancing with my daughter or chasing her around I love to read, golf, ski, listen to NPR, cook, dine out with family and friends and meet new people.
My business background, which includes management, contract review and negotiation, sales and marketing; my role as a parent and love for continued learning will all be a benefit to the Board, but above all, my commitment and energy will be foremost in what I bring to the Board.
Thank you for your vote on March 1!
Shelby Marshall
