Northborough – The Shrewsbury High School gymnastics team took home third place in this year’s MIAA Girls Gymnastics Team State Championship meet with 142.400 points, held Feb. 27 at Algonquin Regional High School.
Barnstable High School won its fourth consecutive state championship with 147.125 points and the Medfield/Holliston/Millis co-op team came is second with 144.225 points.
The Colonials’ Maddie Konz finished first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.625 and fifth on the beam with 9.275 points.
Ally McNeil finished in ninth place in the all-around with 36.300 points, helped by a sixth-place finish in vault with 9.350 points, and seventh in both beam (9.150) and on floor (9.250).
Other Shrewsbury notable scores include Karina Hopping taking 12th in the all-around with 34.000 points, and Julia Schaefer fifth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.325.
Shrewsbury, as one of the top three finishers, advances to the New England Gymnastics Championships, which will be held at Dracut High School on March 12.
