Hudson – Saturday, March 19, marks the inaugural event of Hudson’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, when Symphony Pro Musica (SPM) presents “An American Salute,” a concert that honors Hudson’s founding and includes music that reflects the town’s past and present.
Generously sponsored by Avidia Bank, the performance will take place at 6 p.m. at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham St. Refreshments will be available in the lobby during intermission.
Hudson’s musically rich present is represented by works that feature Hudson residents. Zachary Johnson will perform Copland’s Old American Songs. SPM will premiere “Sky Woman Falling,” composed by Margery Goldstein. In partnership with the River’s Edge Arts Alliance, a town-wide festival chorus will join the orchestra to perform several selections, including “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Anyone interested in participating in the chorus should contact [email protected].
Tickets are $25; $20 for seniors (65+); children through grade 12 are free. Tickets are available at Serendipity, 63 Main St., and on Eventbrite.com. There will be some tickets available at the door; due to strong demand, residents are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
