Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:
On 3/24/16, at approximately 3:11 PM, the Westborough Police Department received numerous calls reporting a disorderly male on Milk St. at the Rotary. The report was that the male was yelling at passing cars and spitting on the vehicles. He also assaulted a 56 year old resident of 8 E. Main Street.
Det. Sgt. Peter Goodney was the first to arrive and confronted the suspect. The suspect swung at Sgt. Goodney missing him and striking a glass window on one of the businesses. He then began to push Sgt. Goodney. A citizen stopped to assist and the suspect was taken into custody. While in custody the suspect continued in his aggressive mannerisms and attempted to strike a woman bystander. Uniformed officers arrived and were able to place the suspect in a cruiser.
The suspect was identified as Amor AK Afife, age 33 of 4 Boardman St. Westborough. It was apparent to the officers that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to U. Mass Medical for treatment of a facial injury received while fighting with the officers.
He was booked at the station and charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery, assault and battery on a Police Officer, malicious destruction of property over $250 and a warrant from Salem District Court for assault and battery.
He was held overnight at the Police Station for his arraignment in WDC Friday morning.
