Hudson – Eunice L. Tighe, 94, of Fitchburg, former longtime resident of Hudson, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Leominster Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Sylvester A. Tighe for 46 years.

Eunice was born in Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of the late Archibald and Catherine (Merlin) Grant. She had resided in Hudson since 1963, until most recently residing in Fitchburg the past year.

She was employed in the food service department of the Digital Equipment Corp. in Hudson for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Auxillary V.F.W. in Hudson; member of the Emblem Club in Hudson and former member of the First Baptist Church in Marlborough.

Eunice enjoyed reading, celebrity magazines, crossword puzzles, board games, and watching her favorite television programs. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family especially later with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the beautiful color of purple in her life and her loving spirit.

She is survived by her three daughters, Vivian Coyne and her husband John of Lake Wales, Fla., Joanne Sundstrom of Fitchburg, and Cathy Hinkley and her husband Michael of Stow; her two grandchildren, Michael Hinkley Jr. of California and Shannon Hinkley and her fiancé Jonathan McCauley of Marlborough; and the Goebel and Jackson family and their children, who fondly referred to Eunice as Gram, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Evelyn McKinley, Ronald Grant, John Grant, Eileen McGurk, June Walker, and William Grant.

A funeral service and celebration of Eunice’s Life will be held Friday, April 1, at 10 a.m., in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial services will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Thursday, March 31, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eunice may be made to the Clardy Children’s Fund, C/O Avidia Bank, 42 Main St., Hudson, MA 01749.
