Obit  Vincent D'ErricoShrewsbury – Vincent “Jim” D’Errico loved life and all his family and friends in it. He died peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2016 with family gathered around him. He was 78.

Vincent Thomas D’Errico, lovingly known to many as “Jim,” was born Nov. 21, 1937 in Worcester, a son of Italian immigrants Matteo and Isabel (Piccinino) D’Errico. He graduated from Major Howard Beal High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army.

For over 30 years, he worked for Nissen Bakery in Worcester, where he became a familiar face to the many customers and businesses who relied upon him.

Jim loved all things outdoors: hunting, fishing, time at his much loved “Camp Royalston” and vacations in York Beach.

True to his Italian heritage, Jimmy was a fantastic cook. A lifelong Shrewsbury resident, he was an active member of the Italian American Victory Club on Dewey Road where he served as president and on its board of directors. He played in its bocce league and was also a member of the Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

In death, Jimmy joins his brothers, Julio, Andrew, Michael and Matteo D’Errico.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth (Yarnes Kramek) D’Errico; his children, Matthew H. D’Errico and his wife Laurie of Shrewsbury, Bonnie S. D’Errico of Auburn, Pamela A. Poulin and her husband, Martin of Newfields, N.H., Christine M. Sassone of Shrewsbury, and Richard B. Kramek of Boylston; his sisters, Josephine Cefalo and Mary Wigglesworth, both of Shrewsbury, and Anna Barry of Florida; his grandchildren, who called him “Bumpa,” Gianna, Nicola and Mikayla D’Errico, Nicholas, Salvatore, Vincent, Dominic and Antonio Sassone, Olivia and Michael Poulin, Andrew and Isabella Roy, Briana Kramek, and Erica Lavallee; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Jacoby and Kayden; his former son-in-law, Randy Sassone; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Kramek; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jim’s life by gathering for calling hours Wednesday, April 6, from 4-8 p.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury, and again the morning of Thursday, April 7 before leaving in procession to Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
