Hudson – Marie E. (Collins) Brackett, 84, of Hudson, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Marlborough Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 25 years to the late John H. Brackett, who died in 1974.
Marie was born in Marion, Maine, daughter of the late Ralph and Geraldine (Cummings) Collins. She was raised in Eastport, Maine, where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Shedd High School.
She was employed for many years by the Raytheon Company in Andover.
Marie resided for 60-plus years in Hudson, where she raised her family and cared for her home. She was a devoted wife and mother and loving grandmother. Her true passion was her family and she cherished all the wonderful times with them, especially later with all her loving grandchildren and adoring great-grandchildren. Her giving spirit and warm smile will be remembered by all who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Sargent and her husband Carle of Bolton, Mary Fagan and her husband Al Nogler of Hudson, and Diane Long, wife of the late Leslie Long of Greenwich, Conn. She is also survived by her sister, Grace Johnson of Perry, Maine; her two brothers, Ralph Collins of Uxbridge and Fred Collins of Saco, Maine; her nine loving grandchildren, Sara Rego, Carle, Paige, and James Sargent, Tamia Simonis, Troy, Timothy, Tyler and Thomas Long; her 19 adoring great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and celebration of Marie’s life will be held Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m., in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial services will follow at Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
