Westborough – Chabad of Westboro, 54 South St., will present the Model Matzah Bakery Passover Experience, Sunday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $3 per person.
At the Model Matzah Bakery, visitors of all ages will have the unique opportunity to participate in an ancient tradition: making Matzah the old-fashioned way – by hand, the way the ancient Hebrews did thousands of years ago. The program also features Passover arts and crafts and educational games.
Visitors will learn how Matzah is made. The entire process of baking Matzah will be simulated in a hands-on experience. Starting with natural wheat stalks, participants learn how threshing and winnowing are done, separating the wheat from the chaff, and then grinding the wheat grain into flour. After sifting the flour, they mix, knead, roll, and riddle the dough with special Matzah perforators, rushing to prevent the dough from leavening. In addition, each participant will receive an authentic hand-baked Matzah made in Israel.
