SObit Celia Cassanellihrewsbury – Celia M. (Keisling) Cassanelli, 95, formerly of Shrewsbury, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter J. Cassanelli, who died in 1998.

She leaves a son, Peter J. Cassanelli, Jr. of Marlborough; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a brother, John T. Keisling of Worcester. She was also predeceased by her two daughters, Patricia Cassanelli and Phyllis Tambolleo of Shrewsbury, and a sister, Irene Robio.

Mrs. Cassanelli was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late John and Mary (Riley) Keisling. She was a nursing assistant at St. Vincent’s Hospital, later retiring in 1971.

She was a member of Saint Anne’s Church, Saint Anne’s Golden Age Club, and the Friends of Shrewsbury. She was an extraordinary cook and lived for spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank the nurses, the administration, and all those who cared for Celia at Beaumont Rehabilitation Center.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, April 16, from 9-10:30 a.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
