Obit David T. MurphyWorcester – David T. Murphy, 53, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Thomas F. Murphy and Theresa R. (Libuda) Wayman.

David worked as a foreman for Eversource, formerly known as both Nstar and Commonwealth Gas Company, for many years before going on long-term disability due to health issues. In earlier times, he was very active in various youth organizations in the town of Shrewsbury, volunteering his time as a show of love and support to his children.

David leaves his children, Megan C. Murphy and Kevin D. Murphy, both of Shrewsbury; his estranged wife, Robin M. (Howe) Murphy of Shrewsbury; and his sisters, Monica (Murphy) Coakley, her husband Thomas, and their children of Charlton and Pamela (Wayman) Pingeton, her husband Jeffrey, and their children of Sterling.

Services for David will be held Saturday, April 16, from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, to Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow next to his mother in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held Friday, April 15, from 4-8 p.m., in the funeral home.
