Marlborough – Marlborough City Councilor Michael Ossing is challenging incumbent Danielle Gregoire for the Democratic nomination for the 4th Middlesex District state representative seat. He is currently serving his ninth term as a councilor-at-large and Finance Committee chair since 2005.

Ossing said he has been encouraged to seek the state office by many individuals.

“They believe my private sector experience and performance on the City Council provide a solid foundation to be an effective and influential state rep.,” he said.

For the past 35 years, he has been working at the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant in New Hampshire as an engineering programs manager and most recently as a licensing manager.

“For over 35 years, I have been solving problems in the workplace involving local, state and local regulations governing the safe operation of the nuclear power station,” Ossing said. “I am applying the problem-solving skills that I have developed to my work as a councilor and as a state representative if I am elected.”

Other council sub-committees he has served on include: emergency preparedness, personnel, veterans, operations and oversight, open space, legislative and legal affairs and redistricting.  Ossing has been a resident of Marlborough for 54 years, where he resides with his wife, Linda. They have two children, Kaylin and Cameron.

The 4th Middlesex District includes 10 precincts in Marlborough, and two precincts in both Northborough and Westborough.
