Marlborough – For years, the Frank D. Walker Building has been home to various city offices including the Veterans Services, Retirement Board, and Community Development Authority as well as the United Way of Tri-County’s Marlborough Community Cupboard.
But now, since only half of the building’s approximately 60,000 square feet is occupied, city officials are looking into the possibility of using the iconic building for other purposes. Recently the City Council approved $75,000 to do a formal feasibility study to research the matter.
If redeveloped into a spot for things such as small businesses and restaurants, the building, which sits right in the heart of the city’s downtown, could help stimulate economic growth in that area, officials feel.
