Hudson – Helen R. Callahan, 89, of Hudson, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Brewster. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Callahan.

Helen was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late James “Mitzi” and Edith (Strong) George. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School.

Helen took great pride in the care of her home and along with her husband Richard found their greatest joy in raising their four children. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing for many years. Another passion of hers was oil painting in her spare time. She especially looked forward to visiting with her family around the country. Her loving spirit will be missed by all.

She is survived by her children, David Callahan and his wife Kiljoon of Virginia, Susan Richards of West Harwich, Carolee McMahon and her husband Erin of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ann Marie Mong and her husband Paul of Worcester. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jennifer and Alex Callahan, Carrie and Devin McMahon, Kristin Groves, Jeffery Schreiner, and Michael Carroll, along with her five adoring great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may attend a calling hour Wednesday, May 11, from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service and celebration of Helen’s life at 2 p.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.
