Northborough – A local business leader’s passion for serving others has earned him national recognition. Dr. Bruce Bender was named a 2016 Senior Advocate of the Year in recognition of his advocacy leadership and commitment to enhancing the lives of Massachusetts seniors.
The award, an honor presented by Home Instead, Inc.’s government affairs division, annually honors six Home Instead Senior Care franchise owners in the U.S. and Canada who have taken on leadership roles to advance legislative measures and advocate on behalf of North America’s seniors.
Bender and his wife, Laurie, have owned two Home Instead offices serving Worcester County since 1997, where they focus on helping seniors stay independent in the comfort of their own homes as they age.
“I am honored by the recognition of my work advocating for seniors in Massachusetts,” Bender said. “With the cooperation of our state and federal officials we have made some progress toward developing a safe, affordable system for seniors in their homes. We hope for more going forward, making sure there is adequate oversight of the entire home care industry and access for everyone who needs some help.”
