Northborough – Moms and grandmothers joined 104 little princesses for a sold-out tea party sponsored by the Northborough Education Foundation (NEF) May 7 at Algonquin Regional High School. The annual event is one of the biggest fundraisers for NEF and raised $7,000.

Entertainment included performances by two dance teams from Diane Cournoyer Dance Center and the girls had the opportunity to meet, dance and sing with special guests Ariel and Rapunzel. Nail painting, crafts and a scavenger hunt rounded out the afternoon for the girls and the moms took their chances on raffle items.

The event sponsor was Metrowest Oral Surgical Associates.

NEF awards grants for innovative and creative programs that enhance the standard public school curriculum and that would not be funded through the traditional school or town budgets. In 2015, $26,000 was awarded. Information on the grant recipients can be found

Recently, NEF has also undertaken a 15-month Chromebook campaign to help the Northborough School District to allow greater access by all students and to ensure that Northborough meets the Technology Literacy standards set by the state of Massachusetts. Its goal is to fund the purchase of at least 200 new Chromebooks by the end of the 2016-17 school year.  A video explaining the campaign and a link to make a donation online can be found on NEF’s website.
