Marlborough Regional Chamber awards scholarships

Marlborough – The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) has awarded four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools. Winners of the 2016 Scholarships are Michael MacCormak from Marlborough High School, who will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Trevor Currin of Hudson High School, who will attend Nichols College; Katrina Pusateri of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, who will attend Merrimack College; and John Hulton of Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School, who will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The $4,000 is raised through the Wayside Run for Fun 5K that is sponsored by the Wayside Athletic Club each year. Everyone is invited to participate in the 5K Run/Walk which will be held this year on Wednesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the club, 80 Broadmeadow St., Marlborough. Sponsorships are available by calling Susanne Morreale Leeber, president/CEO of the MRCC at 508-485-7746. Pre-Registration is $15 online at www.firm-racing.com/events.asp.  Registration the race day is $25. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered athletes.  On race day the first 25 registrants will receive a t-shirt. Following the race will be a free “thank you” cookout and bash for all race participants.

Darren McLaughlin, chair of the Scholarship Committee for the MRCC said, “All the students who applied had excellent credentials, and each year it proves to be an extremely challenging and rewarding process as the committee determines the winners.”
