Grafton – Ever since five-year-old Sophia Sugarman tragically lost her mother in April, the Grafton Police Department has actively participated in raising funds for the little girl.
On Saturday, Aug. 6, members of the department are inviting others to join them in the 5th Annual KMS Golf Tourna-mint, to be held at Highfields Golf and Country Club in Grafton. Proceeds will benefit a fund set up for Sophia.
This annual tournament honors the memory of longtime Grafton resident and Highfields’ employee, Krista Schonberg, by playing the game she loved. (According to Highfields’ website, the event is called “Tourna-Mint!” as Krista often liked to combine two words to make up a new word that better expressed what she meant.)
Organizers are now seeking sponsorships and foursomes for this year’s tournament.
Team sign-up is $500 ($125 per player) and includes golf with a cart, the putting contest, lunch, dinner, and a commemorative golf towel. The event begins with registration at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The application deadline is July 1st.
Tickets are also available on a limited basis to non-golfers for the benefit dinner, which will feature a raffle and silent auction. For more information visit www.kmsgolf.com or email [email protected].
