To the Editor:
Thanks to Rev. Lynne Dolan for leading, and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense for organizing, a beautiful peace vigil to mark the second annual National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 2 at Shrewsbury’s First Congregational Church. The moment that struck me the deepest was how many in the suburban crowd of approximately 50 people shared the name of a loved one who had been affected by gun violence (three people I loved have died in two separate shootings). How many more people need to personally experience the devastation of losing someone to guns before all Americans agree to engage in a conversation about reasonable regulations to keep us safe without taking away anyone’s Second Amendment rights?
