Shrewsbury – Get ready for summer at the Shrewsbury Public Library! This year, the summer reading program theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” The library is offering a number of free activities related to health and wellness for children and their families. Programs include:

Pajama Storytime. July 11 at 6:30 p.m. Wear your pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed friend or blanket. There will be a craft, stories, a snack, and a lullaby sing-a-long. This is a family event recommended for ages 2-5. Siblings welcome. Registration begins June 27.

Brain Gym Workshop. This is a two-part program offered July 12, from 7-8:30 p.m. (parents only), and July 19, from 7-8:30 p.m. (parents and children together). Brain Gym is a system that uses quick, easy-to-do developmental movements to stimulate brain function for learning. For school-age children and their families. Space is limited and registration opens June 28. This two-part program is being presented by Fran Bruen, M.Ed, OTR/L, LMT, APT (AOBTA) and the Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library.

Teddy Bear Picnic. July 13 at 11 a.m. Celebrate National Teddy Bear Day (July 10) with teddy bear related stories and a craft. Bring your favorite stuffed friend, picnic blanket, and bagged lunch. To be held in the Shrewsbury library children’s room courtyard. Hosted by the Shrewsbury Children’s Connection (http://www.shrewsburycc.com). No registration required, but free admission tokens will be available at the circulation desk starting at 9 a.m.

Experience the Book. July 14, 28, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. One Book…Many Activities! Join librarian Sharon Martin for many kinds of fun exploring the theme of a book. For students entering grades 3 through 5. Tokens for this program will be available at the circulation desk starting at 9 a.m. on the morning of the program.

Frisbee Freestyle Interactive Playshop with Todd Brodeur, World Freestyle Frisbee Champion. July 18 at 10 a.m. See a demo and learn some cool Frisbee moves yourself! Ages 5 and up. Registration begins July 5.

Yoga Storytime. July 20 at 10 a.m. Listen to a story and recreate the action through yoga poses! Ages 3 to 8. Registration begins July 6.

Superhero Training Camp. July 23 at 10 a.m. Come dressed as your favorite superhero. Improve your superhero skills at a number of training stations. D.I.Y. masks and capes. Snacks provided. For ages 3 and up. Registration begins July 8.

National Dance Day Celebration. July 30 at 10 a.m. Come see performances of different dance styles and learn some dancing moves! Drop-in. All ages welcome!
