Marlborough – Carl F. Connor, 67, of Marlborough, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his residence in Marlborough.

Carl was born and raised in Marlborough, son of the late Paul H. Connor Sr. and Margurite E. (Kennedy) Connor. He attended local schools and was a 1966 graduate of Marlborough High School. Following high school, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from American International College of Springfield.

Carl excelled in sports in both high school and college as a member of the football and baseball teams. He spent many years as a sporting goods salesman locally and also as a representative selling ceiling fans throughout the northeast. He was a member of several local fraternities including the Hudson Lodge of Elks and Marlborough Eagles.

Carl had many interests throughout his life, but truly enjoyed his younger years spending time with family and friends. He especially looked forward to all those wonderful times on Cape Cod with his former wife, Maureen, and their many friends. He cherished his time associated with the Marlboro Shamrocks as a player and former owner/general manager of the team. He was always very giving of his time, especially being involved with youth sports in the mid-1970s to early 1980s as the coach of the Marlboro Jr. Shamrocks. His enduring memory of a “kind but gentle giant” will be forever cherished by those who loved and knew him.

He is survived by his brother, Paul H. Connor Jr. and his wife Elaine of Hudson; his sister, Peggy Truex of Plymouth; and his many nieces and nephews, along with his former wife and friend Maureen (Bourque) Connor of Hudson. He was the brother of the late Robert Connor and Grace Ponti.

Family and friends may attend a calling hour Wednesday, June 29, from 6-7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home (www.tighehamilton.com), 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a service and celebration of Carl’s life at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery of Marlborough.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carl may be made to the Metro West Boys and Girls Club, 169 Pleasant St., STE 104, Marlborough, MA 01752.
