Northborough – The Northborough Police Department released this statement this afternoon:

At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning a young female jogger was assaulted on Lyman Street near Talbot Road. As the jogger approached the railroad bridge she saw a male subject standing at the railing. Shortly after she passed him she realized that he was running after her and as he closed he grabbed her from behind.  She turned to confront man and he ran off down Talbot Road. A perimeter was established and a K9 unit was called in to search the area. The K9 team tracked in the area of the railroad tracks, Talbot Road and a wooded area in the vicinity. While waiting for police to arrive, the jogger remembered seeing a smaller dark colored car enter Talbot road.

During the subsequent search of the area, a second female in Westborough reported to Westborough Police, that two men in a small black car circled around her in the vehicle in the area of Lake Chauncy. She first saw the car and two men on the side of the road with the car’s hood up when she walked past them. Shortly thereafter the car pulled up beside her. She then ran away from the vehicle

The suspect in the Northborough incident described as an Hispanic looking male, 5’8”, in his thirties, wearing khaki shorts and a black t-shirt.

We urge women jogging or walking in the area to be vigilant, be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity no matter how insignificant it may seem. Anyone with information is asked to call Northborough Police at 508-393-1515.
